Demonstration in opposition to the OPW's flood scheme gets underway Leeside

It's feared the proposed plans will affect the historic fabric of the city while turning the city into a large storm drain
The Save Cork City's demonstration at Grenville Place has been organised as part of the wider Love The Lee campaign aims to raise awareness about what the group say are pitfalls of the flood relief plan.
However the Minister of State with responsibility for the OPW says he is working to ensure the project is in keeping with the cultural and heritage aspects of the city.
The deadline for public submissions has been extended to April 7th and Minister Sean Canney says all submissions will be considered before the work is put out to tender.
Speaking to RedFM News John Hegarty of the Save Cork City campaign says if there is a better way of spending the money the option needs to be explored.
