Details Have Emerged Of The Proposed 1 Billion Euro Light Rail System For Cork City

The plans form part of the Cork Metropolitan Area Draft Transport Strategy 2040
The Echo reports that the 25-stop system would link Ballincollig to Mahon Point, connecting the city centre and the docklands.
The 17km line would carry up to 46 million passengers per year with stops including CIT, CUH, UCC, Patrick Street, and Kent Station.
The Transport Strategy will officially be launched at Pairc Ui Chaoimh tomorrow. It will also include proposals such as 100km of new bus lanes, 6 new park and rides, and 200km of new and improved footpaths.
