Detective Garda Colm Horkan Was A "Gem" Who Was "Cut Down In The Prime Of His Life"
The state funeral heard of his life's achievements earlier today
Hundreds of Gardai performed a guard of honour from his home in Charlestown, Co. Mayo to St. James' Church.
Here in Cork, a minute's silence was observed at Anglesea Street Garda Station in the City Centre, in Fermoy, Mallow, Midleton, Cobh and Youghal in Cork North, and in Bandon, Bantry, Clonakilty and Macroom in Cork West.
The family say they're "struggling to comprehend the events" of Wednesday night when Detective Garda Horkan was shot dead in Castlerea.
Colm's brother Brendan told the service that he was an "absolute treasure" and a "man of real class":
