Divers continue search in Blackrock after car that entered river empty

A full scale search operation was launched shortly after 6 o'clock this morning.
Divers are continuing to search the river near the Marina in Blackrock where a car entered the water early this morning.
A full scale search operation was launched shortly after 6 o'clock this morning after witnesses reporting seeing a car entering the water.
The Irish Coast Guard's Rescue-117 helicopter was stood down shortly before 9am after the car was located upside down under the water.
Mallow Search and Rescue deployed their divers to the scene shortly after 6.15 and they have since been joined by Navy Divers.
Gardaí are are now trying to contact the registered owner of the vehicle to determine if it was stolen.
Speaking to RedFM News John Woulfe Chairman of Mallow Seach and Rescue says no one was in the car when it was recovered however divers will continue searching the water:
