Donegal described as a 'disaster zone'

The Air Corps have flown over parts of the county to assess the damage by flooding earlier this week

It's estimated up to 500 homes could have been affected by this weeks severe flooding.

The cost of the clean-up operation won't be known until the full extent of the destruction has been assessed.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar visited the county last night - and says it's extraordinary that nobody was killed or injured.

Speaking to the Independent.ie he also defended the Government's response.
