History will be made when the 32nd Dáil convenes this morning - as the Ceann Comhairle is decided by vote for the first time ever.
The Deputies will also be asked to elect a new Taoiseach, but it's unlikely anyone will get enough support to secure the top job.

Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM this morning Fianna Fáil TD Billy Kelleher confirmed that party leader Mícheál Martin had been speaking to some independents about the formation of a new government. He also said that due to the fundamental differences between Fine Gael and Fianna Fail a minority government could be on the cards:
