Dunnes Stores accused of targeting workers

Mandate has accused Dunnes Stores of targeting staff who took part in a nationwide strike last week. The union has received reports from members all over the country whose working hours have been cut, their shift patterns have been changed and in one case a worker was dismissed less than 24 hours after the strike. Last Thursday around 5,000 people nationwide took to the picket line over temporary or 'zero hour' contracts, the right to be represented by a union and refusal of management to engage in talks. In Cork, 600 workers across 13 outlets in the city and county took part in the strike action. Speaking to RedFM News Mandate's Gerry Light has accused Dunnes of trying to intimidate their members.
