Dunnes workers may escalate industrial action

Mandate's National Disputes Committee is to meet later to consider their next course of action in their dispute with Dunnes Stores. Over a week ago 600 workers in Cork across 13 Dunnes outlets in the city and and county took to the picket lines over the use of temporary contracts along with the right to union representation. The union subsequently accused Dunnes of going down a path of conflict and intimidation after members had their hours cut, roles changes and some workers were even dismissed. Mandate is to sit down today to consider their next move in the campaign which may include escalation of the dispute and further industrial action.
