€205 million for social housing in Cork

The Government is making nearly €205 million available to Cork City and County Councils from now until 2017 for social housing units in Cork. The funding is part of a plan to cut waiting lists for social housing by a quarter and will see  see 1,349 units delivered in the city over the next two years - which will help reduce the city housing list by 21%. In the county, the housing list is set to reduce by 25% with 1,217 social housing units to be delivered by the local authority. Around the country, the Government expects almost 23-thousand additional housing units to be built or refurbished in the next two years.
