€25m to ease housing crisis

The Housing Minister will today announce €25m in funding to help ease the homelessness crisis. Jan O'Sullivan has said the funding will deliver 250 units for homeless people. The accommodation will be delivered through charities that work with those who have lost their homes. Meanwhile unsuitable housing on offer to those in need of accomodation is still an area of concern. That's according to Focus Ireland who say some of the properties on offer are only adding to the housing crisis. Figures released yesterday show that Cork City Council received 243 refusals to offers of housing last year. AUDIO: However regional manager for the South-West with Focus Ireland Ger Spillane has been telling RedFM News that adequate housing is needed to break the cycle of homelessness.
