€3.5 Billion Transport Plan for Cork To Be Officially Unveiled This Morning
A 3.5 billion euro transport plan for Cork is being officially revealed this morning.
Among the plans are a 17 kilometre long 'Luas style' light rail system, eight new railway stations and 100km of bus lanes.
The 17km line would carry up to 46 million passengers per year with stops including CIT, CUH, UCC, Patrick Street, and Kent Station.
The National Transport Authority says Cork will be the fastest-growing city-region in Ireland, with a projected 50%-60% increase in population by 2040.
CEO of Cork Chamber of Commerce Conor Healy welcomes the plan but says the government need to deliver on it:
