€40,000 Spent On Safety Meshing On Some Of The City's Quayside Railings

Railings on Union Quay and George’s Quay had to be strengthened

The Irish Examiner reports that the railings on Union Quay and George’s Quay had to be strengthened in a bid to ensure safety for pedestrians.

It follows the installation of the safety mesh along some city quays following an incident in May 2016 when a three-year-old fell through railings on Patrick’s Quay and into the river.

He was saved by a passer-by and both were assisted by emergency services who rushed to the scene.
