Early Arrival Of Flu Season In Ireland Leads To Rise In The Numbers On Hospital Trolleys

Strict visitor restrictions remain in place at Cork University Hospital  after a flu outbreak


The early arrival of flu season in Ireland has contributed to an increase in the number of people on trolleys at hospitals nationwide.

The Health Minister is advising people with flu-like symptoms to isolate themselves and stay at home to treat the virus where possible.

Strict visitor restrictions remain in place at Cork University Hospital  after a flu outbreak while management at the Mercy Hospital are appealing to anyone experiencing the winter vomiting bug or flu like symptoms not to visit patients the hospital 

Cork University Hospital is the most overcrowded hospital in the country  with 54 people waiting for beds - nationally there are a total of 573 patients being treated on trolleys in hospitals around the country
