"Enough Is Enough" March to Get Underway This Morning

A protest is due to get underway in the city centre in the next hour to highlight inadequate services for children and families with special needs.
The nationwide "Enough is Enough" march will take place in Emmett Place and will call on the government to address inadequate therapies, interventions, respite, assessments, and a general lack of services for children and families with special needs.
It's hoped awareness will also be raised about lengthy waiting lists for children seeking assessment. Over 2,000 children under the age of five are waiting to be assessed for occupational therapy, and nearly 850 people are now waiting over 18 months for speech and language treatment.
Cork is one of the areas where waiting lists are most acute with 1,165 children Leeside on waiting lists.
Cork Mum Elaine Healy is attending the protest and she told RedFM News that the government needs to address the lack of support for children and families with special needs:
