Falling passenger numbers at Cork Airport back in the spotlight

The lack of traffic growth and declining routes at Cork Airport is back in the spotlight again today.. The CEO of the Irish Travel Agents Association Cork based Pat Dawson says he believes money needs to be pumped into a large marketing campaign for the region... Concerns are regularly expressed about the viability of the airport which has to service a 113 million euro debt due to the cost of the new terminal and the continued control of the airport by the Dublin Airport Authority.. Passenger numbers at Cork are down 40% since the new terminal opened and management say half of that loss is due to the axing of the Cork-Dublin airlink which led to a drop of half a million passengers... Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show Pat Dawson says Cork needs to create a wow factor in order to attract more tourists Press PLAY Button above to listen to the audio
