Families struggling as rents rise Leeside

Landlords in towns across the county have been accused of increasing rents in anticipation of a rental cap being applied in their area

Concerns have been raised by the Housing charity Threshold, who say families are struggling to afford rising rents which are as high as €1,000 in towns such as Youghal and Midleton.

Currently the rental cap extends to Ballincollig, Douglas, Carrigaline, and Passage West, but the charity are calling for this to be extended to other sattelite towns across Cork.

Speaking to RedFM News Threshold's Niall Horgan says the Government needs to link rents to the consumer price index.
