Family Of A Man Who Was Brutally Murdered In Cork Issue Statement  

Frankie Dunne's family say they are "numb and in shock" and described him as "one of a kind"

 

The family of a man who was brutally murdered in Cork have appealed for peace and privacy so they can grieve their loss 

The body of 64 year old Francis "Frankie" Dunne  was found in the grounds of a derelict house on the Boreenmanna Road on Saturday afternoon 

In a statement his family say they are "numb and in shock and tried so hard to help and even up to last week but sadly you preferred the streets"

The statement described Frankie as "one of a kind - a character and one of the funniest people to know" and concludes "You're at peace now, may God give you the best bed in heaven"  

Meanwhile.. 

Gardai probing his murder are appealing for witnesses to contact them to help with their investigation 

At the time of his murder Frankie Dunne had been living at a supported housing project run by Cork Simon close to where his remains were found 
He was last seen by staff at the housing project and residents on Thursday night 

Superintendent Mick Comyns who is leading the investigation made this appeal to the public for assistance
