The family of a convicted Cork drug dealer say they are prepared to protest outside the Dail to secure the release of their son so he can be treated at home for brain cancer.
Jonathan Heaphy - who has 144 convictions and is serving a 7 year prison sentence at Cork Prison - has written to the authorities claiming he has incurable brain cancer and is seeking compassionate release to be with his family
The father of two says he has had four operations in the last eight years to remove brain tumours and he has now suffering serious weight loss and several seizures a day. He is due to start tablet chemotherapy on Monday
Jonathan Heaphy's family say they just want him home and are prepared to protest outside Cork Prison and march on the Dail if necessary to secure his release
Speaking to TV 3 News Jonathan's mother Helen says her son needs to be allowed home to be with his family
