Farmers appeal to abolish anti-dumping duties and tariffs on non-EU fertiliser imports
It comes following seven price hikes since June
Farmers are making a direct appeal to the European Commission to abolish anti-dumping duties and tariffs on non-EU fertiliser imports.
The call comes after 150 farmers took part in a demonstration at the Yara depot in Ringaskiddy after the firm imposed seven price hikes since June.
Yara, is one of Europe's leading fertiliser manufacturers and farmers say the price hikes are eroding family farm incomes.
IFA President Joe Healy says farmers spent a total of €505 million on fertiliser last year and the continuing price rises are unjustified.
Speaking to RedFM News Joe Healy says he hopes the Cork protest will help lead to change.
