Gardaí Have Arrived At The Scene Of Farmer's Blockade Outside ABP Plant In Bandon

Gardaí spoke to farmers who have been blocking access to trucks and service vehicles at the factory gates and are currently observing the scene. 

A trade delegation had been due to carry out an inspection of the factory today as part of a multi-million trade deal between Ireland and China, however farmers say that visit has now been cancelled and will take place on Monday

Farmers began their 4th day of unofficial protest after talks aimed at ending the blockade broke down yesterday.

Meat Industry Ireland say the continued illegal blockading of beef processing plants around the country has already forced companies into staff lay-offs and warned that further lay-offs coming days are inevitable.

Speaking to RedFM News outside the gates of the ABP plant in Bandon, Paddy Scully from Aontú says farmers are keen for a trade deal with China to go ahead:
