Farmers Will End Their Blockade At Bandon ABP Plant On Monday If The High Court Order Is Lifted

The offer to management at the plant was made by farmers ahead of a visit by a Chinese trade delegation on Monday.

Farmers will not blockade the ABP plant in Bandon on Monday IF the company lifts a High Court Order barring some farmers from protesting.

The offer to management at the plant was made by farmers ahead of a visit by a Chinese trade delegation on Monday.

The current blockage is not affiliated with any union or farming organisation, however a spokesperson for the farmers at the factory gate told RedFM News that they have yet to hear back from management following the breakdown of talks yesterday evening.

This is the 4th day of unofficial strike action by beef farmers who say they are struggling to pay their bills and see no future in the sector at a time when they are earning as little as €4 an hour.

The Irish Farmers Association are urging farmers not to put themselves in a situation where they can be blamed for the cancellation of the trade deal, while Meat Industry Ireland say the action has forced some plants to lay-off staff, with plans for further job cuts.

Speaking to RedFM News outside the gates of the ABP plant in Bandon, Paddy Scully from Aontú says farmers across the country should show support for the protestors
