Fears of rent hikes following increase in rent allowance

Tenants in Cork are in line for a 21% rent supplement increase which it's hoped will provide some relief to those on the brink of homelessness.
However the announcement has been branded a short-term solution to a long term problem with many calling for the delivery of housing.
It's also feared that rent hikes will be imposed in the future as a result of the rent supplement increase.
Speaking to RedFM News Niall Horgan of Threshold says while the rent supplement increase is to be welcomed there needs to be a provision to adjust rent caps:
