Fears over Cork-London/Heathrow air link

Fresh fears have been expressed for the future of Cork Airport's London links amid a bid by airline group IAG to take over Aer Lingus. If the international airline group is successful in its attempt it's feared the company could reduce connectivity from Cork Airport to London Heathrow in a bid to re-allocate landing slots in London. Cork Chamber of Commerce is now calling on the government to use its 25% stake in Aer Lingus to ensure that any deal would include a guarantee that connectivity will not be reduced. Speaking to RedFM News business correspondent with the Irish Examiner Peter O'Dwyer says while it's unclear what IAG will do if they take over Aer Lingus the move could have a huge knock on effect on the airport and the city: Press PLAY button above to listen to the audio
