Fermoy recognised by European Parliament for leadership on the issue of LGBT+ rights

Fermoy ended it's twinning agreement with the Polish town of Nowa Deba in October last year after the Council in Nowa Deba declared the region an 'LGBT-free zone'.

Nowa Deba subsequently retracted the controversial declaration in January of this year.

The European Parliament is set to adopt a resolution declaring the entire of the EU as an LGBTQI Freedom Zone.

It's expected the vast majority of MEPs will support the resolution.

Around a third of the towns in Poland have declared themselves 'LGBT-Free Zones'.
