Festivities begin at the Cork Summer Show

Organised by the Munster Agricultural Society the Cork Summer Show has been running in one form or another for over 200 years, since 1806
The Cork Summer Show will launch today and thousands of people are expected to flock to Cork for the festivities.
The show has been a summer highlight in Cork for over 200 years and this year features pet farms, children's entertainment, the largest outdoor food festival in Cork and even big screens for the Euro games.
This year's music and entertainment bill will see singer/songwriter John Spillane perform alongside The Frank and Walters and the Lords of Strutt
Organisers say the number of exhibitors has more than doubled last year's number which had set new records.
The show runs from 9am to 6pm today and tomorrow at the Showgrounds in Curraheen here in Bishopstown.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM , Gerard Murphy of the Munster Agricultural Society outlined what listeners can expect:
