Fianna Fail leader slams slow progress of Cork's Event's Centre
Micheal Martin is dissatisfied that no construction work has started at the site yet since.the sod-turning ceremony by the Taoiseach
Slow progress on the city's promised Events Centre has been slammed by the Fianna Fail leader.
Micheal Martin has described the sod-turning ceremony by the Taoiseach at the site 9 months ago as a cynical exercise and has pointed to the fact that no construction work has started at the site yet.
The developers now have until the end of January to complete the internal designs and finalise costings on the 6,000 seater venue.
Council Chief Executive Ann Doherty claims the project is still on track despite the fact that an archaeological dig needs to take place before construction can start.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show Micheal Martin says it is his understanding that work will commence on the student accommodation planned for the site ahead of any work beginning on the long-awaited Events Centre.
