Fine Gael's Sean Kelly Is Set To Become The First MEP Elected In Ireland South

He's now just over 300 votes off the quota

In The European Elections -

Sean Kelly will be the first MEP elected to the European Parliament in Ireland South this afternoon.

He's now just over 300 votes off the quota and retaining his seat in Brussels.

Independent Mick Wallace is doing the best on transfers and is in a strong position to take a seat - as is Fianna Fail's Billy Kelleher.
Sinn Fein's Liadh Ni Riada and the Green Party's Grace O'Sullivan are the next best placed.

Meanwhile....

A decision is expected on how to resolve a dispute in the Dublin Count for the European Parliament.

A disagreement emerged last night over how Sinn Féin candidate Lynn Boylan's votes would be distributed, if she were to be eliminated, as is expected.
If votes were not distributed, it could potentially make a difference in terms of who comes third and who comes fourth.

Dr. Eoin O'Malley Lecturer in Government and Director of Public Policy at DCU explains why the issue needs to be resolved
