Fire Crews Called To Three Fires In Spring Lane Halting Site
Fire crews were called to three fires around the Spring Lane halting site in Ballyvolane yesterday.
Emergency services attended two rubbish fires and a caravan fire between 2pm and 7pm.
The halting site is located beside the former illegal dump at Ellis's Yard which had 200 tonnes of rubbish including asbestos removed from it recently at a cost of over €50,000.
The Echo reports that Gardai are continuing their investigation into an arson attack on a security cabin at Ellis's Yard last week.
Security personnel have since been withdrawn from the former illegal dump for health and safety reasons.
