A picture showing the blaze in the hills behind the iconic Gougane Barra church was shared online last night and sparked outrage however the cause of the fire is not yet known and it's believed the recent spell of dry weather played a part.
It was a busy weekend for the fire service and at least 50 fire fighters were deployed to battle blazes that stretched from North Kerry to the Beara peninsula.
