Fire service praise Cobh woman who rescued a child from the river

Maria Foley, was passing Patricks Quay at the time and without hesitation jumped into the river to save the child.
Cork City Fire Service have praised the bravery of a Cobh woman who jumped into the river to save a child who slipped and fell in at Patricks Quay this lunchtime.
The 4 year old had managed to get under the railing at Brian Boru Bridge when she slipped and fell into the river.
Maria Foley was walking in the area at the time and without hesitation she jumped into the water and pulled the young boy to safety.
They were both quickly rescued from the water by fire fighters and treated at the quay side by ambulance personnel before being removed by ambulance to hospital as a precaution.
Speaking to RedFM News, Third Officer with Cork City Fire Service Victor Shine says Maria's actions were nothing short of heroic.
