Fisherman (Late 40s) Airlifted To CUH Last Night After Falling Seriously Ill
The man was on board a fishing vessel off the coast of West Cork.
Castletownbere RNLI launched at 10:55 to go to the assistance of the 27 metre local boat with six people onboard two miles South of Mizen Head
Two attempts were made to transfer the man from the fishing vessel to the RNLI lifeboat, however conditions were very difficult off the Sheep Head Peninsula.
He was eventually transferred in calmer waters close to Castletownbere Harbour.
The Shannon based Rescue helicopter 115 met the lifeboat in Bantry Bay and brought the casualty to CUH
