Gardaí in West Cork have launched an investigation after a dog was skinned alive and his four paws were cut off.
The incident comes after the recent killing of a small dog in Mayfield which sparked outrage among the public.
The 5-year-old Jack Russell named Marvin had his throat slashed and was left to die.
It's also emerged that files regarding three unlicenced puppy farms, and two incidents of animal cruelty are now being considered by the DPP.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show Evening Echo reporter Ann Murphy says this latest case of animal cruelty is the worst case she has come across:
