Former Cork Councillor found guilty on deception charges

A former Cork Fianna Fáil councillor has been remanded in custody for sentence after he was convicted of obtaining money by deception while working as a financial advisor. 38 year old Gary O'Flynn with an address at Hayfield Drive, Castle Court in Whitechurch had denied a total of 22 sample charges of obtaining money by deception. But yesterday, a jury of eight men and four women at Cork Circuit Criminal Court found him guilty of 13 counts of obtaining sums totalling €1,000 by deception The jury found Gary O'Flynn guilty of the 13 charges which related to money he obtained from Eric Higgins between Dec 31st 2009 and Jan 27th 2012.
