Former Naval Service Member Jailed For Drug Offences In Cork

He pleaded guilty to possessing almost €170,000 worth of drugs in Cork.

48 year old Colin Vernon, a native of Dundalk but with an address in Cork at the time pleaded guilty to possessing 13 kilos of cannabis at addresses at Firgrove in Bishopstown and Kinsale Road in Cork on November 4th 2010.

 

He was arrested and released without charge while Gardaí began preparing a file for the DPP. The following March he left the country.

 

German police arrested him in April of this year on foot of a European Arrest Warrant and returned him to Ireland.

 

Judge Brian O'Callaghan sentenced Vernon to two years in jail.
