Full extent of Intel job cuts not expected for a few days

12,000 job cuts are being made internationally at the tech giant.

It may be the weekend before workers at Intel in Cork, Kildare and Shannon know the extent of job cuts.

Internationally, the company is laying off 12,000 workers as it moves to a new business plan.

5,500 people work for Intel in Ireland with the majority of the job losses expected at their European headquarters in Leixlip, Co Kildare.

Management is expected to brief some staff this evening - but Independent Councillor for Leixlip Bernard Caldwell says we won't know the full extent of the losses for a few more days.
