Garda Station closure saves the State €4,000 a year

Seven garda stations have been closed across Cork in the past three years
The Justice Minister has confirmed that the State saves just 4 thousand euro a year from the closure of each Garda station.
Frances Fitzgerald says the total annual savings from closing 139 Garda stations are just over 550,000 euro.
But she's insisted that the closure of Garda stations wasn't designed as a cost-saving measure - but rather to free up Gardaí for frontline work elsewhere.
Seven garda stations have been closed across Cork in the past three years including Adrigole, Ballinspittle, Meelin, Rathduff and the Mallow Road and in the city Barrack Street and MacCurtain Street
