Gardaí appeal for information and confirm no weapon yet found after fatal Blackpool shooting

Gardaí have appealed for information about a Red Opel Astra which was seen in Killeen shortly after a fatal shooting on the Northside of the city yesterday.

Aidan O'Driscoll was shot three times as he walked along the Commons Road near Blackpool Church of the Assumption.

It's understood two men were involved in attack and fled the scene on foot towards Great William ’Brien Street where they took off in a Nissan Almera which is believed to be the first of three getaway cars.

That car was discovered burned out on Seminary Road and another vehicle, a Vauxhall Astra was found torched near Killeeens.

Gardaí have also confirmed that  no weapon has yet been recovered.

At a press briefing this morning near the scene of the shooting Superintendent Mick Comyns told RedFM News that they have received information about a Red Opel Astra near Killeens but they're keeping an open at this stage of the investigation:
