Gardaí carry out motorway incident response exercise in Cork

It is taking place at the Ballincollig by-pass until lunchtime.

"Expect the unexpected".

That's the message from gardaí in Cork today who are carrying out a planned motorway incident response exercise at the Ballincollig by-pass until lunchtime.

Emergency services from across the city are involved in the exercise which aims to promote safe driving and highlight the real dangers on the road faced by motorists every time they get behind the wheel.

Traffic management systems are in place from Maglin Bridge, and a brief diversion of westbound traffic will be necessary.

Sergeant Peter Murphy who is involved in today's exercise has been telling RedFM News that their aim today is to raise public awareness.
