Gardaí investigate rape claim on city's northside

Gardaí have launched an investigation after receiving a report that a teenage girl was raped by an older man on the city’s northside over the weekend.
Detectives in Gurranabraher were contacted by the girl late on Saturday night to report the incident.
The girl who was deeply traumatised was brought to the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit at the South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital where she was examined and treated by doctors.
Garda technical officers later carried out a forensic examination of the scene of the attack and they plan to take a formal statement from the girl at later this week.
