Two Teenagers Arrested For Mugging 91 Year Old Woman In Macroom Released Without Charge

Gardaí are to liaise with the National Juvenile Office with a view to preparing a file for the DPP
The woman and a friend in her 60s were sitting on a bench in the Castlegrounds last Tuesday when they were grabbed from behind by two young assailants.
The woman in her 60s had her handbag stolen while the woman in her 90s was knocked to the ground during the struggle and had to be taken to CUH with minor injuries.
She has since been discharged and is said to be making a good recovery.
Gardai are hoping that a technical examination of the handbag, which was found near Macroom Golf Club, may provide some DNA evidence or other forensic evidence which would assist them in their investigation
