Gardaí Seize Almost €300,000 Of Drugs And Cash In Cork In The Past Two Weeks

A number of large drugs seizures have taken place in the City and County
Two men were arrested after Gardaí found €85,000 worth of cannabis at a house on Sunday's Well Road and another €20,000 worth of the drug during a follow-up search of a house on Blarney street.
Two other men were arrested after €20,000 of cannabis, cocaine and cash was discovered in the Glasheen Road area of the city on Sunday.
€100,000 worth of cannabis and €30,000 cash was also seized in Castlemartyr last week, while a further €88,000 in cash was discovered during a follow up operation in Tallaght in Dublin. Two men were arrested.
Speaking to RedFM News, Detective Inspector Danny Coholan from Anglesea Street says the establishment of specialist teams has proven very effective at tackling the sale and supply of drugs in Cork:
"I suppose we're attributing some of our success there to Operation Tara, in April of this year. And in Cork City this involved a renewed emphasis in drug investigations. This involved the setting up of district drugs units at Anglesea Street, Togher, Gurranabraher and Mayfield.
It also involved the increased resourcing of personnel in the divisional drugs unit at Angles street and the establishment of a city centre policing unit which especially targets street level drug dealing."
