Gardaí warn Cork motorists over drug driving dangers

Gardaí say a number of cases of drug driving have been before the courts Leeside.

'Drugs can impair your judgement behind the wheel just as much as alcohol.'

That's according to gardaí in Cork who are appealing to motorists to avoid drug driving.

Road side drug tests are due to come into effect early this year which will allow members of the force to test motorists for drugs such as cannabis and cocaine using a swab test.

Gardaí say a number of people appeared before the courts Leeside for drug driving offences before Christmas.

Speaking to RedFM News, Inspector Finbarr of the Cork City Traffic Corps says there can be serious consequences to committing the offence.
