Glanmire Flood Relief scheme to get underway next year

Work is due to start on an  €8 million flood relief scheme in Glanmire next year.

Four years ago an estimated €2 million worth of damage was caused to over 60 homes and businesses when torrential rain forced the Glashaboy river to burst its banks.

All 48 houses in Meadowbrook Estate were flooded with some residents forced out of their homes for six months afterwards.

Many home and business  owners in the area no longer qualify for flood insurance and are anxious for the project to be completed as speedily as possible.
