Glanmire residents call for Garda Station

Councillor Ger Keohane says locals were promised a new station in 2011 but little progress has been made since then

Residents in Glanmire are "fed up" waiting for a new Garda Station.

That's according to Councillor Ger Keohane who say locals were promised a new station in 2011 but little progress has been made since then.

Ongoing legal matters between the OPW and the land owner means plans for the €3 million station have now been put on hold.

Housing Minister Simon Coveney has announced a 200 million euro "Local Infrastructure Fund" in the latest attempt to kickstart the housing market, with Dunkettle earmarked to receive up to 1,500 new properties.

Speaking to RedFM news Councillor Ger Keohane says the increase in population in the area, also increases the necessity for a 24 hour Garda station in Glanmire.
