Government funding for Events Centre to be finalised in weeks

That's according to the Tanaiste.

Simon Coveney made the comments at UCC this week during the first of the Project Ireland 2040 roadshows.

The sod was turned on the project this day two years ago however following a detailed internal redesign additional state funding was requested.

It was reported earlier this year the State will inject an extra €10 million into the project in addition to the €20 million it pledged three years ago , however this has yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile its believed an increase in private funding from developers BAM and the venue’s proposed operators, Live Nation has also been pledged.  

Speaking to RedFM News, Simon Coveney says the Government are very close to finalising funding.
