"Government Measures To Tackle Housing Crisis In Cork Are Not Effective Enough"

That's the message from Focus Ireland, Cork, who has expressed concerns following daft.ie's latest rent prices report

The rental report from the housing website shows rents in Cork city are rising faster than the national average, hitting a new high of 1,266 euro per month.

That's an increase of 12.8 per cent in the last 12 months while the nationwide figure is 12.4 percent.

Speaking to RedFM News, Communications manager for Focus Ireland, Alan Neary says soaring rents for some homes have seen a 15 per cent increase in just 12 months:
