Government pan for free GP care for under 12's branded a sweetener
Irish Medical Organisation brands plans to extend free GP care to all Children under 12 a pre election sweetener.
The proposal was made as part of Budget 2016 and the IMO say while no negotiations on the plans are curently taking place the plan is unrealistic.
It's part of the government's plan to eventually introduce free GP care to everyone and is included in the €13.2 billion euro package for health outlined in last week's budget.
Speaking to RedFM News Cork's Simon Coveney says the proposal isn't just a sweetener it's part of an overall plan to extend free GP care and it will happen:
