Government Says €100 Million Upgrade At Dunkettle Interchange Will Not Be Impacted By Cost Of National Broadband Plan

The government says a €100 million upgrade at the Dunkettle Interchange will not be impacted by the cost of the National Broadband Plan.

The comments comes as its revealed that Finance Minister, Pascal Donohoe went against advice from officials in the Department of Public Expenditure who described the Broadband Plan as a massive risk to state finances.

Officials also warned some projects may have to be cancelled to meet the three billion euro cost of the plan, however the Minister has since issued assurances that he doesn't plan to change existing commitments.

The Dunkettle interchange has been operating above capacity in recent years with up to 100,000 vehicles using it daily.

Speaking to RedFM News, property developer Michael O'Flynn says the project is vital for Cork
