Government to unveil simplified version of water charges system
A simplified water charges system is set to be agreed by the government this week. It will see annual bills for the homes of parents with two children brought down below two hundred euro, while single person households will be charged less than 100. Full details will be announced by the minister with responsibility for the area, Alan Kelly, later in the week. The changes will emerge days after a controversial protest in Dublin at the weekend, which saw Tanaiste Joan Burton surrounded in her car for more than 2 hours.
