Government Urged To Agree To Equal Pay To Resolve Teacher Dispute

The Government's being urged to agree to the principle of equal pay for equal work to resolve the teachers' dispute.

It's after ASTI members voted yesterday to reject pay proposals from the Department of Education.

The union said while it has a mandate for strike action, members do not have any immediate plans to walk off the job.

Sinn Féin TD David Cullinane says they have continually advocated for a return to a single tier pay structure and the government have turned their backs on the proposal so the outcome of the ballot is not surprising:
